Description

In the year 1971,the institute started the Electronics and Communication Engineering course.the fullfledged Department started functioning from the year 1987.

The Department has six major laboratories,viz.,Basic Electronics Lab,Communication Engineering Lab,Power and Industrial Electronics Lab,Microprocessor Lab,Computer Lab and Printed Circuit Board Lab.

The Department has a Instrumental Cell to cater to some special needs of the different departments of the Institute.The Department has successfully completed many industry and KSCST sponsored projects. A few members of the teaching faculty have been recognised as IEEE journal and textbook reviewers.With a competent staff and adequate equipment the Department can take up research/consultancy work on electronics,communication and allied fields.

The Department has computers,plotters and printers.The Departmental library has text books,manuals and data books.Modern equipments available in the Department include Analog and Digital Oscilloscopes and Trainers besides audio-visual equipments.The Instrumental Cell has Programmable Signal Synthesiser,Data Acquisition System.IC TESTER,CROs,Analytical Instruments and Laboratory Recorder.

Recollections

Name: J.V. VENKATESH
I am from 1977 E&C batch. Those days, we were not allowed to touch any computer ( If my memory is good, they had couple of Analog computers ). Jayaprakash never allowed to touch it. We could only see it from a distance. Hope things have changed for better.
