Name: Getting_out_of_NIE CommentsFor the NIEeks of yesteryears, latest updates on NIE from an outgoing student of CS batch of 99 (4NI99CS): (Please forgive me if this is too long a comment) NIE has a really good, new building now. Well, it is ‘equipped’ with toilets (for an ex-student who was not satisfied with toilets at NIE). The principal is Dr. M S Shiva Kumar. He is doing an excellent job. Every other day we can see some work on beautifying NIE going on. At last the college has woken up. The boy’s hostel has been awarded as having the best lawn during the last Dasara. LH is all the same. The canteen still sucks. Mech. and CS are the coolest of the branches. Dr. G Raghavendra Rao is the HOD of CS. Sorry I don’t know the name of Mech. HOD. We were fortunate enough to get into the new building first. It is really awesome. Kudos to Mr. S N Karnik (HOD of Civil). But it still lacks a good vehicle parking area. They might as well start a gym in the campus in another few months. (Modernizing!!). The old building is being renovated. NIE has an IEEE student branch now (NIEEE). The college library has been computerized. The worst administration is of the examination section. Buggers they do not have any work all semester long and at the end of the semester when they have to give us the Hall tickets, they act like they are from another planet. Mr. R Datta Kumar is the placement officer. He is doing a lot of work for us. Thanks to him I could get into a company. For anymore information please leave the comment here. The thing I disliked most about him was he used to be very mean particularly towards students who came from a poorer family background. I think he used to dress properly (actually, my ass - this clown was the only one I remember who wears a blue trouser and brown shoes) so he would sneer at students who were rather unkempt (particularly if he knew that they were poor and thus not very influential). Another funny thing I recall is the way Jayaprakash would pull his pants up during the classes. hmmmm that was a unique style. he should maybe patent the process.
