CSI Convention at NIE
Warm Greetings from the Principal NIE Mysore.
Dear Alumni,
We are happy to inform you that NIE has been organizing a number of technical events over
the years and the 12th CSI (Computer Society of India) Karnataka Student Convention is
being organized by CSI-Bangalore Chapter and is hosted by NIE on 30th, 31st October and
1st November '98.
About 600 participants from all over Karnataka are expected to attend this 3 day technical
event. Selected student paper presentation and lectures from invited experts are scheduled
during this period.In order to organize this event in a grand manner, NIE is requesting
you to contribute a suitable amount you wish, by cheque/DD drawn in favour of "12th
CSI - Karnataka Student Convention" Payable at Mysore and send the same to
'Principal, NIE, Mysore - 570 008'.
The contribution from your end will be appreciated and as an alumni of NIE, I hope you
will respond favourbly and the earliest.

Greetings from Dr.T.R.Seetharam, Principal, NIE, Mysore
Dear Alumnus,
The National Institute of Engineering(NIE), Mysore, one of the premier technical
institutions in the country, has completed 50 Years of its meritorious existance in 1996.
Started on July 1,1946 in a thatched hut, the NIE has grown in stature year by year and
today it has become a prestigeous engineering college in the country having its own campus
with modern laboratories.
To cope up with the new challenges and responsibilities in technical education, the NIE
management is planning to execute ambitious projects under the aegis of the NIE GOLDEN
JUBILEE Celebrations Committee.
Some of the important projects are :
a) Opening centres for 1) Energy Studies, ii) Management Studies, iii) Research and
consultancy and iv) Continuing Education: A) Institution of three Chairs one each in Civil
Engineering Sciences, Mechanical Engineering Sciences and Electrical Engineering Sciences
in memory of the three founders of the NIE C) Construction of a 300 Seat Modern Auditorium
and D) Construction of an Indoor Sports Complex. I am happy to inform you that NIE has
already acquired a 6 acre plot which is diagonally opposite to the existing campus. The
total cost of all these projects is about 4 to 5 Crores of Rupees. It requires prodigeous
energy and vast resources to execute these projects. We need all your Co-operation and
understanding to take a leap from the Golden Jubilee Year (1996-97).
We therefore solicit your gracious gesture by way of your generous contribution (atleast
$500=3D00) to the cause.
I am happy to inform you that during the Golden Jubilee Year we organised 5 National
Seminars in different engineering disciplines and one Seminar-cum-Exhibition of Students'
projects. The valediction of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations will be held on May 31st,
June 1st & June 2nd 1997. June 1st 1997 which happens to be a Sunday will be
celebrated as NIE ALUMNI DAY. On this day outstanding NIE Alumni will be honoured by the
NIE management.
I take this opportunity to request you to plan your vacation/holidaying so as to be in
Mysore to attend the function on June 1st without fail. Though we are trying our best to
reach every Alumnus in India and abroad who has passed out of NIE we may not be able to do
so for want of contact address. I therefore request you to pass on the contents of this
letter to your friends/relatives with whom you are in contact and we will be highly
obliged to you for this act of yours.
Finally, I once again humbly appeal to you to contribute generously towards the growth
of NIE and oblige us as well as the future students of your almamater. Please send your
contribution by cheque/DD drawn in favaour of "NIE MYSORE GOLDEN JUBILEE
ACCOUNT".
