The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department , National Institute of Engineering , Mysore

Introduction

The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department was one of the first few departments ( along with Civil Engineering & Mechanical Engineering )which has existed since the inception of the college in the forties . With the help of an outstanding faculty , it has produced an interesting bunch of very good students over the years ,who are working in high positions in prestigious corporations all over the world.

Personal Recollections

Most of us got to know the "graveyard " of the machinery lab early on in our second year .One of the main advantages existed in the fact that it was very close to the canteen , where we would head for midway through a boring experiment. Over the course of the next few years , we figured out the mysteries of one line diagrams , long transmission lines , protection schemes and a variety of other arcane information which ( I hope ) some of us will end up using ere long !

Unlike the Royal Mechies the E & E types never laid much of a claim ( as far as I remember ) on being the " macho " type . In fact , I don't remember any obvious defining characteristic of the E & E crowd! Maybe some of you out there can write in and fill me in with details as to how things have changed since 1995 ( the year I left )
