MORE RECOLLECTIONS Name: re: truth is out there Recollectionsyeah.. relations improve in the final year. that's becos they dont really want to get beaten up after you finish serving time at NIE E&C. Ofcourse, I make exception to RNP. She's a guniune lady. But others are demons. and in the final year and they get the hint that now no one can really stop you from making the grand exit then everyone is goodie goodie with you. Name: Akshay Vivek Rao RecollectionsWell I have both bitter and some very sweet memories of my course in E&C. Here I basically want to express my gratitude for Mrs. Rohini Nagapadma & Mr. B J Subbukrishna for expressing their faith in me and for backing me when I went through one of the most testing times in my life. I would say that initially I had a very bad time in the department but during my final year all those hard feelings were gone and was proud to belong to this esteemed college. Name: re: truth is out there! RecollectionsHi there, I agree with whatever you have said. NIE E&C is a bunch of sadist people. I graduated in 1992 and by the moment I graduated, I should thank god that I had not lost my sanity. It is surprising and at the same time very unfortunate that the situation is same even now.. I was a very good student and had very high CET ranking in 12th standard.. I could have chosen any college.. I really repented for choosing NIE... I did not believe in taking shortcuts to my success.. A bunch of studnets in my class(cream of the class) used to get pampered by the lecturers.. Except one or two, none of them were exceptionally good at studies.. They managed to get good marks just because they used flatter these lecturers.. Other students in the class were considered junk.. I really used to feel very bad!! Till today, I never like those students !! They never thought they were being favored at the cost of some good student's future... I will also quote an incidence which shows the level of bias the lecturers used to have.. One of he students who was considerd to be the best by these sadist lecturers did not get results properly in one of the practical examinations in the eighth semister (the tradition followed by these lecturers was to fail the candidate in that examination if he does not get output). He was expected to be the topper to whole university that year.. So they re-conducted the exam for the whole batch just for one student.. I do not know how they can justify this.. By the way he was not the topper to the university that year!! Another good student who was really hadrworking stood first in E&C that year in a genuine way!! Hope all my friends will agree with that!! I am doing very good in my career!!! I am proud to say that I am successful in my career!! Wherever I have worked, I have commened lot of respect from my managers and collegues (as I have said, no shortcuts.. thorugh hardwork and determination) I never want to remember my days in NIE.. Thanks for your patience..
Name: Ali R Shirazi RecollectionsI recall our External Exams and the manner in which my colleague ,Syam Sunder and I were studing for it one evening. We were doing combine studies in our Final year.He had these lovely "Kashmiri girls" next door and we had this habit of laughing aloud. Only to realize that we had a trail of laughter and giggles coming out from their room. We sometimes used to go to "Fish Bowl",situated close to Chamundipuram circle and get ourselves a seafood treat, when we got tired of pouring over our books. I was an awesome eater those days and could down 3 large "Biryani's" from RRR. I remember Jacob Cherian was a veteran in eating 25 idilis without the additional works(sambar et al)on them. It was great fun going through college life. Viji Jacob,Syam,Chander,Naresh,Amit Mehta,Viswajit,Venky,Jacob Cherian, all my other friends.Keep in touch. Name: BABLA SOMAIAH K Recollectionsour batch and especially civil guys were the best.it was a perfect blend of studies and fun.i really think that nobody would have had fun like us.surely our civil and maths faculties are living proof for that.since we had it at their cost!!!!!!!! Name: S.Kuldeep RecollectionsHi All. I still remember the day, when we were in II sem,in Prof.Srikantha's class,Sooraj(he is now a Kargil war hero, awarded with Vir Chakra)got up from his usual last bench and coolly walked out, just to walk in at the end of the period just before attendance without Srikantha sir getting a note of it.This funny behaviour is still very memorable for the E&E class of 95.You can imagine how he used to take the class. Name: SURESH RecollectionsSTAYED IN NIE HOSTEL I'M FROM PONDY Name: vijay kumar jha Recollectionshi guys it was great to be part of the highly motivated gang of people .the kashmiri gang of seniors ashwin vibhav kapil & that ticklish tickoo in their intellectual pursuits and the quintessential abhinav dhar in girls pursuit on his KB,The all psyched up bihari gang all the bihari issues were of national importance they had to step in every time. Then those andhra guys with there grass & horses (race) offcourse. My initition to watching bfs and highly intellectual discourses on female anatomy and measuring the littel me e.t.c during ragging. The most happening of all, the Strike always trying to get in the frame of star of mysore photographer ,the very well fed hunger strikes.the worst part my department e&c the toughest nut to crack contrived egocentric mr srikanta for whom we were nothing but rodents or anathema to the society in general and pain for him in particular.any how everything in college&hostel mixed to make heady concoction which was very enjoyable the memories still gives me a pang and i want to be there again but alas.... guys can get in touch with me at vjy_k_jh@yahoo.com Name: chetan verma Recollectionscertificate Name: truth is out there! Recollectionsnie e & c is the worst thing that can happen to a student. in short, nie e&c can be defined as a group of sadist working together in perfect harmony to screw students life and career. They try to control a student's movement even outside the class. Their knowledge is limited by what they had studied some 25 years ago, they do no research, honestly i cant say totally "no" but they do research in finding a scape goat among student who they will screw royally till his escape. I dont know how they are striving such a kind of life with mental stagnation. They neither grow up in life or allow student to come up. i would be happy if they come to know about this message and realize the agony undergone by students. I dont want to name any particular instructor there. In Short, Its not a "HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT" for student to be in and spend four precious year in his life. They discourage student asking doubts about material in the class. I somehow managed to escape from the dept with minor bruises. I want many students to put in their inputs so that future students should not suffer any agony. God save nie e & c dept. This should encourage students from other dept put inputs about their bad experiences. Name: Vachan Shetty Recollectionsitz me again...!!!!! the memories are un-ending i guess. One incident thatz will always remain fresh in my mind is the day when we really went over the top of thingz and set up a 'Time-bomb' (NIE's very own prototype, using an agarbathi as a timing device!!!!) against the window of the manager's room!!!! Then it was just a matter of TIME and..........B O O M!!!!!!!!!!!!! our pal was in a fit of rage (obvious..when someone's playing such pranks as early as 2 in the morning!!!!). poor guy....had no clue as to who had triggered off a Diwali Bash at that odd hour and that too when Diwali itself was a good 3-4 months away!!!!!!!!! and then there was this 'GOOD' guy, who came out((wanting to help the already helpless manager), and tried to sort things out!!!! little did he know that in a few minutes from then....his room would be locked and he too treated to a similar (albeit more deafening and even more variegated) bombing-session!!!!!!! more in my next, to all from NIE cheers always, Vachan. Name: Shridhara MV aka vaddu RecollectionsHi guys! Everyone has mentioned almost everything but no one seems to remember cycle shop Ravi! That guy used to remember every students name and even nick names! Of course how can we forget the chai shop, canteen and our TT room and the never ending strikes! Then we have our most remarkable lecturers whose mood no one could comprehend, the likes of BJS, Shrikantha and Anantharaman who thought he is doing a favor to the society by detaining 11 students for want of attendance in their final semester! Though insanity was the order of the day for our teachers, the good natured lab assistants and ever helping classmates helped restore some sanity. Whatever it was, it was unadulterated fun above all else at NIE. The technieks, the JACIANA, the strikes, the trekking trips to nearby Ooti, Madikeri and the long hours of chess we played - they are all etched in my memory! Long live NIE!! my email- shridharmv@usa.net Name: Yashovardhana RecollectionsI was in my 2nd year and I still had'nt seen the LH. I decided that there was no use standing outside the gate and ....you know what. There was the danger of the watchman chasing me away. I took inspiration from the statue of the man with the theodolite at the end of the building (you know, with the telescope pointed towards LH - ever wonder why that was?)and took my own telescope - with a few of my friends of course - to the top of Chamundi hills!! I am an amateur astronomer and my telescope was quite upto the task in resolving the window of the LH (or what I thought was the window of the LH). There was a girl - definitely a girl - drying her hair. We stayed there for half an hour and saw a few more girls drying their hair - it was sunday you know. That was the closest I ever got to see of the goings on in the LH!! Name: again.. your senior at hostel. Recollectionshow can we forget the SLAP given by PC&RW THATA (OLD MAN) to VINAY KULKARNI sahaab. it was the slap of the century and priceless. Name: your senior in hostel. guess! Automotive Mechanics: I have forgotten the lecturers name, but one of my classmate had asked why a scooter doesnot have a reverse gear? He was blessed with choices kannada curses. Bo** magane, Su** magane etc. Industrial management by Jagga was wonderful Name: prabhakar Recollectionswhen i stood for the A.C.E election and just i got 8 votes out of 63 votes and that was some event that i won't be able to forget and it was great being in computer science department. Was a hostelite during my days at NIE and will always relish the memories. Had possibly the best time of my life at NIE boys' hostel. Well, what can you say about a place that taught you more than the institution that it is affliated to. Well, I do concede that it did have a few shortcomings, albeit, the bad food, the location (or, the lack of one ), the lousy management (Baburai and Co)...and so on; but, the fact that it housed some of the best guys (Sanko, NP, Rags, Lakshmi, Devadigs, Indu, Diamond, Bucket chicken, Devgan....an endless list) I have ever had the opportunity of staying with, more than compensated for these small inconveniences. To put it in two words.... kudos hostelites!!! with regards, neogi. Name: Vinay Kulkarni RecollectionsCANTEEN COFFEE: "idhikinta sariyagi heeluvudu saadhyavee ille" (Couldnt be more correct) I remember making a baitwo (1/2) of that little sample. many times it used to be a trick that a single person asks for "by 2" because we get a little more that one exact micro cup when they make separately in two cups. Name: Murthy S.N RecollectionsIt was a rainy day at NIE , We were all tired of the lab , and We were in our 3rd sem , ...after Sampath Kumar (SK)'s turbo machinery class, we sort of drifted towards srikanta's canteen , and sat down next to srikanta's desk ....We over heard a senior commenting on the quantity of the coffee srikanta served " ee coffee na kudiyovaga yava hale nenapu baruvadikke munche coffee mugidhogatte" (this coffee gets over before one can even think of recollecting any old thoughts !!!) the qty used to be so less !!!SRIKANTA ZINDABAD !!!BY the way , guys , is srikanta still running this canteen ? Name: R Recollectionsthere was one person who used to eat all the items on the menu in th canteen. can anyone recall such a person ? :) Name: Ali Reza Shirazi RecollectionsHi. I am from the class of '94. I am with a US firm based in Chicago, Illinois. I remember Guruprasad from the CS dept. , as we called him affectionately "Guru". He was very helpful and a fantastic teacher. I have great respect for him.I also recall "GR" as we affectionately called him. Although he was on the quite side, he was always there when we needed him. Our famous internal tests then our mind blowing exams. When I look back now and reminisence. Let me tell you,if I could trade my present for the lovely NIE days ,I would without the blink of an eyelid. I remember the good old days in the NIE Mens Hostel. We only had to have a small reason to have a good long college strike. And as soon as the strike triggered I would take off to Bangalore.I really filled the coffers of the Karanataka State Transport during those days by my indefinite travel back and forth. I remember, once there was a "Lizard" in the rice our boys did kick ass for that by having a one month strike. And BOY!!, was that beneficial to all of us. I also recall the Sunday special Breakfast-the famous "DOSAI" of NIE Hostel. For no sooner as we put it down , did it become a intoxicant for us and gave us a lovely post-breakfast NAP. I remember "Rai" from the Hostel Management Staff.I used to bump into him very often and we shared a good rapport. I also remember "Murti" with his famous "MANJIGAY" bucket. One always doubted how he made that "MANJIGAY". Being at NIE was a great experience. I wish all of you good luck!
